If you have worked with PowerBI for a while, may be it’s time to consider taking this certification exam during Christmas season XD.

Since this is an associate certification exam, one should at least have some prior practical experience with PowerBI, not like those 900 series where you can effortlessly pass by memorizing key services/terms. When you do have some experience working with PowerBI, this exam is not as hard as it seems anymore. The only thing that surprises me about this exam is that the exam contain several actual case studies and you have to even write some DAX functions even. So let’s jump directly to the most exciting part of this blog post: Proper preparation phase.

PowerBI Desktop vs. PowerBI Service

The Power BI Desktop is the place to create reports. It is downloaded as a free application and installed on a local computer. The desktop supports different types of data sources, allows data modelling and visuals creation.

The Power BI Service, on the other hand, is the cloud-based service where users view and interact with the reports.

Report designers use the Desktop application to publish the Power BI reports to the Service. Users in the Service can edit the reports and create visuals based on the existing data model and also share and collaborate with co-workers.
